July 26, 2017Majid Powell, a rising senior, is one of 27 UNC Charlotte students spending the summer serving as student leader interns with Freedom School Partners. “There is a lot at stake,” says the middle grade education major. “Saying that means we acknowledge that we bear some responsibility to be part of the solution.”

The Numbers Are In...
May 16, 2017Employee volunteerism is not a new concept and in fact is one that is embraced by UNC Charlotte, the UNC System and State Legislature. Currently, UNC Charlotte has over 2,400 employees who have more than 59,000 hours of community service leave time to give to our community.

Look Who Came and Volunteered
April 27, 2017April was National Volunteer Month and featured several on campus volunteer opportunities for UNC Charlotte employees and students. One volunteer however, made sure their trip to our campus included an opportunity to participate alongside members of the UNC Charlotte family in the university’s first Day of Service. During the last shift of Operation Sandwich, Governor Roy Cooper entered the SAC Salons with his sleeves rolled up, ready to make his fair share of 800 sandwiches.

Chancellor Encourages Volunteerism for Day of Service
March 28, 2017UNC Charlotte places a strong emphasis on community engagement, including employee volunteerism. It is part of our mission to address the cultural, economic, educational, environmental, health, and social needs of our community. The University and the state of North Carolina support employees who are interested in volunteering during the workday through the Community Service Leave benefit; all full-time faculty and staff members have 24 hours during a calendar year for volunteer service.
